Gee Gees Review

Quite what the surviving Brothers Gibb would make of being parodied as 70s disco stallions (the Bee Gees famous teeth and Barry Gibb's lustrous mane of hair no doubt inspiring this fruit machine's horseplay), but The Gee Gees is the punning name of the game here and it's time to see if we'd put a bet on them.

The very heart of the Gee Gees is a familiar three-reel, single payline fruit machine format with nudge, hold and nudge peek reel features. Beyond this the Gee Gees throws in two extra bonus games to add a little canned heat in these reels, and generate a little danceflloor uproar to build up big wins from single spins. The first bonus game to be aware of is the bonus trail on the main console window that, in itself, is the route to this online fruit machine's second Disco Dancefloor Bonus game. Getting a winning combination on the payline is an instant invitation to the Gee Gees' Dancefloor, but you'll also find numbers cropping up on several of the reels' symbols and the sum of any of these stopped on the payline will count as moves along the bonus trail. Get eight moves along the bonus trail and you hit the first 'win' and a turn on the Dancefloor too. Also look out for landing on the fourth step of the bonus trail as this triggers a skill stop sequence of six different outcomes. Each of these six outcomes gives you a chance to move further up the trail, four of which (Skillshot, Add Again, Stoppa and Selector) also involve a skill stop element. With luck the extra moves you gain from this stage may get you a win and into the Dancefloor Bonus round.

With a win off a spin it's time to hit the Gee Gees Dancefloor round, where you'll find a new bonus trail set out like the famous Saturday Night Fever disco arena, with twenty steps around its edge. Each step offers the player a chance to accrue cash, nudges or feature games. There are also four spaces marked with question squares that trigger random outcomes that may end the bonus round, so players must gamble to collect a prize before they land on a space that terminates their game. The player spins a single numbered reel to determines how many spaces they move around the dancefloor and have the option to spin again or collect after landing on a space that awards a bonus and keeps them in play.

Ten different feature games can be won from landing on the '+ Features' spaces on the dancefloor, all with Disco / Horse punning titles (e.g. 'Prancing Yeah!' and 'Reel Like Dancing') and all guaranteeing a win. Top of the tree, should you manage to hit ten '+ Feature' spaces during your trip round the Dancefloor, is 'The Gee Gees' which delivers an instant win of 2,000 times your bet. That's a very smooth move, if you can pull it off!

The Gee Gees really bolts an awful lot of features into its basic online fruit machine format and, mercifully, they're not a lot of awful features! Newcomers to fruit machines might find the layers of bonus games and other bells 'n' whistles a little bewildering at first, but it doesn't take long to get comfortable in The Gee Gees' saddle...and boy what a ride! A right funky fruit machine in our opinion, and well worth steppin' out for.
